sasentaiko: Eating these right now! I baked the flattened, corn-starch-coated potato disks in the oven, drizzling both sides with canola oil. I think I would have had a hard time in my particular frying pan. I put a bunch more toppings, including slivers of onion and lots of crushed red pepper flakes and rosemary… and they came out so yummy! This is a really cute, rustic idea, and I’d definitely do it again when I wanted something fun. I used bigger (chunks of) peeled potatoes to form the bases, so originally I used a tiny pot to smash them, but eventually I found it easier to press down on my spatula (or you could use a bench scraper, like the one Haru used to move them to the pan). The potatoes become like a flavor sponge… highly recommend trying these! ( 121 Likes).

This snack is very satisfying (I mean that this food quickly fills you up, 4 pieces were enough for me), because a whole potato is hidden in each piece!
If someone is going to repeat this recipe, be very careful with mashing potatoes! And yet, it’s better to immediately add a lot of delicious spices while cooking potatoes so that the potatoes themselves taste better!
