「一席一果」酸角——云南酸味最独特、水份最少的水果【滇西小哥】

离村子不远的怒江边上有一大片酸角林，是那种酸味浓个头扎实的老品种酸角，树上叶子都掉光了，但树上还满是一串串的酸角。我靠着身体重力摇了一背篓回来，做了奶奶爱吃的酸角糕，小豪爱吃的酸角糖，还有爷爷的酸角泡酒，还有一罐酸角醋，是真够吃一年了。这个醋怎么做都好吃，天气热了，我就拌了个胡辣椒鸡脚，真的出奇的好吃～

There’s a forest of tamarind trees along Salween River not far from our village. They bear very sour and big fruits. Though the leaves all fell down, there are lots of tamarind fruits on the tree. I shook some fruits down and gathered a full basket of them. I made some tamarind fruit cakes for grandma, tamarind fruit candies for Ahao, tamarind fruit wine for grandpa and a jar of tamarind fruit vinegar that can last for a whole year. The vinegar can be eaten in many ways. Since it’s getting hot these days, I made some spicy chicken feet with the vinegar, which is really tasty.

After maybe 2-3 days the pulp are almost dried not very sticky to touch, then you can store in a clean container or plastic bags, it will last for very long time. ( 1 Likes).

Wang Paochen: There must be an easier way to pick those dried Tamarind pods high up in the tree n make plucking n picking easier.
Like a long pole with a circular blade or metal ring attached n place it around the stems of the pods n just twist it n let it drop onto the ground below. Easier to pick from the ground below than shaking the branches n those pods will drop off farther n makes picking tedious.

mariambearantoinnete: I don’t if any of you ever did this when you were kids… I am a Malaysian. Growing up when I was a kid, if I had very high fever, my mum and/or late grandmother will put tamarind water on to our head (almost soaked it) and let it dry to cool off the fever. It smell really bad (sour-ish) and my hair will be hardened by it! But it really did cool me off, even though it didn’t make the fever go away.
And my mum did that to all of her kids and her grandchildren. Even I do that to my daughter as well. It’s just some old Asian traditional way, I guess.
But I love the taste of tamarind, if put it in sambal or some dishes made with chilis..
